Welcome

Welcome to the statistics database of the West African Monetary Institute (WAMI). WAMI was set up in 2001 by the Authority of Heads of State and Government, and currently has a membership of six (6) West African Countries (5 Anglophone and 1 Francophone). The initial mission of WAMI was to undertake technical preparatory work for the establishment of the West African Central Bank (WACB) and the introduction of a single currency. However, in 2014, with the adoption of the Single-Track Approach for monetary integration in West Africa, WAMI was vested with the responsibility to undertake technical preparatory work on member states, for the introduction of a single currency in West Africa.
The objective of this site therefore, is to provide relevant and comparable statistical information on the activities of the West African Monetary Zone in pursuance to the regional integration agenda.
